Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to announce an exceptional Joint Congress:

The 57th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaematology (DGTI) will be held together with the 31st Annual Meeting of the German Society for Immunogenetics (DGI) as a joint event. From 11th to 13th September 2024, both societies will meet in Düsseldorf at the CCD Congress Center. This venue combines the optimal accessibility of one of the largest metropolitan areas in Europe with a very attractive environment for the congress directly on the banks of the river Rhine in Düsseldorf.

The event will focus on interdisciplinary cooperation and international collaboration. In particular, we would like to further expand the approach of the "Neighbour Day": Based on the location of the event venue and the longstanding collaborations of the organising institutes at the university hospitals in Essen and Düsseldorf, our colleagues from the nearby Netherlands are explicitly invited to join the congress!

In addition to the classical topics of transfusion medicine, the field of immunogenetics will be addressed in particular. Other important topics will be innovative new cell therapies and current developments and challenges posed by the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence. Most scientific sessions will be presented in English. The congress program will offer an attractive mix of current science and practice-oriented continuing education, not only for young physicians and scientists, but especially also for non-scientific staff.

A joint congress creates ideal conditions for a lively interdisciplinary exchange and enables intensive communication and networking between the congress participants and also with the exhibiting industry, which will be again intensively integrated into the congress.

On behalf of the organising committee and on behalf of the executive boards of the DGTI and the DGI, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you in Düsseldorf in September 2024!
